Friends and family,

This article captures, in more ways than I had previously conceptualized, why I will vote for Obama in the upcoming primary.

If you have questions of your own about why anyone would (or should?) vote for Obama, I highly encourage you to read this article.

http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200712/obama

This is what I make out to be the gist of the article:
1) Policy differences between candidates (even between R/D) are minuscule.
2) In light of these minuscule differences, perhaps it is time to stop denying that "image" is the central factor that separates candidates and accept it as fact. ***
3) The author (Andrew Sullivan) explains why he (I agree) believes Obama's new, intelligent, multicultural image is the right one for America at this point in time.

***: I believe that image being a key factor is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as that image is meaningful (i.e. not entirely superficial).

One thing I'd like to add:
There are two major forms of racism that will affect the way people vote in this election:
a) People will not vote for Obama because he is black.
b) People will not vote for Obama because they do not think he can win because he is black.
Both are racist! But I believe (b) is the only one truly capable of affecting the outcome of the election. Do not fall into this trap. Do not fool yourself into thinking that (b) is non-racist.

Please vote for the candidate you believe will make the best president. This is democracy in action; this is how you make your vote count! Voting for a candidate because you think they will win is pointless and is modern plutocracy controlling you.

with love,
